The New South Wales Environmental Protection Authority (NSW EPA) is seeking feedback on the effectiveness of its existing Resource Recovery Framework. The results from this feedback will be used to evaluate the current framework to better protect community and environment health.

The NSW EPA is accepting feedback from within the community, local government, and the waste industry before finalising an independent review into the current framework.  The Resource Recovery Framework Report outlines the current framework as well as the areas in which it seeks to review. Some of the main points it seeks comments on include:

  • The effectiveness of the current framework on protecting human and environmental health

  • The effectiveness of the current framework on delivery of resource recovery and circular economy goals

  • The transparency, clarity, and enforceability of the framework

  • The effectiveness of the current frameworks’ enforcement

The NSW EPA has provided a template of submission questions to assist your feedback submission. Feedback for the Resource Recovery Framework is due on 6 May 2022. For more information, visit the NSW EPA website
