Tax benefits available to you when you donate to Planet Ark
In Australia, end-of-financial-year tax donations allow taxpayers to donate to eligible charities and claim a tax deduction. Donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Here's how it works:
Tax deductibility: Donations to charities, such as Planet Ark, that are registered as Deductible Gift Recipients (DGRs) can be claimed as tax deductions.
Claiming the deduction: You can claim the donation amount on your tax return, reducing your taxable income by the amount donated.
Benefit to the taxpayer: The actual benefit depends on your marginal tax rate. For instance, if your marginal tax rate is 32.5%, you get back 32.5 cents for every dollar donated.
Let's understand with some examples:
The charity receives the full donation amount, and the taxpayer gets a refund based on their marginal tax rate, effectively reducing the cost of the donation. The taxpayer can also claim the total donation amount as a deduction to reduce the taxable income.
Workplace Giving: Pre-Tax Donations
A super easy, set-and-forget way to donate to Planet Ark whilst receiving tax benefits is through a workplace giving platform. Employees can set up a pre-tax donation to be deducted via their payslip as a once-off or on an ongoing basis. Better still, many companies offer to match employee donations.

“I give and bequeath (free of all duties) ..…..% of my estate OR the sum of $...(nominated gift amount) to Planet Ark Environmental Foundation – located at Suite 3.18, 22-36 Mountain Street, Ultimo NSW 2007 – in aid of that Foundation and for its general purposes, with the written acknowledgement of Planet Ark Environmental Foundation to be accepted by my executors as a full and complete discharge.”
