Planet Ark’s National Tree Day team launched The Seedling Bank in 2019 to give communities and schools the funds they need to put seedlings in the ground. The program builds on the success of Australia’s largest tree planting and nature care event, which has seen over 26 million trees planted since 1996.

Since The Seedling Bank launched, 60 groups have received funding and 32,000 seedlings have been planted across every state and territory in Australia. This marks round five of The Seedling Bank grants and Team Tree Day are looking for applications big or small. Planting events do not need to take place on National Tree Day, we support events all year round.

Projects have included building bandicoot bunkers and wildlife corridors, revegetation of habitats to encourage native wildlife, planting to protect cultural heritage sites and transformation of rubbish tips to provide habitat for endemic plant and animal species including the endangered Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo! Preference will be given to projects with the greatest environmental impact and community focus.

    How to apply

Any school or community group can apply for a Seedling Bank grant:
