The ABC’s Four Corners program which aired on Monday 13 February named Planet Ark as one of a number of Australian companies that had bought carbon credits in an avoided deforestation project in Papua New Guinea.

As a member of Climate Active, we are committed to reducing our carbon emissions as much as possible and finally buying accredited carbon offsets for the remaining unavoidable emissions from our operations. We can thus achieve and claim carbon neutrality.

Planet Ark takes advice from Pangolin Associates on certified schemes from which to choose our offsets. After consulting with Pangolin and conducting our own research, we are confident that the scheme referred to on Four Corners continues to be certified by REDD+ and Verra, the world’s leading carbon standard for the voluntary offsets market, as a legitimate and functioning carbon offset scheme.

Planet Ark will continue to monitor and evaluate all schemes we use to offset our unavoidable carbon emissions.
