About National Tree Day Planet Ark's National Tree Day started in 1996 and has grown into Australia's largest community tree planting and nature care event. Over 28 million trees, shrubs and grasses have been planted by National Tree Day volunteers across Australia.
FUNCTION & PURPOSE
The primary objective of the National Tree Day Support Officer role is to support the Communications Manager with the operational elements in the delivery of Planet Ark’s flagship National Tree Day campaign.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the rollout of National Tree Day communications plan and activities including digital communications and events.
Assist with outreach via telephone and email to engage volunteers and partners.
Respond to inbound enquiries from partners and the public around National Tree Day.
Record data, information and feedback on enquiries in the appropriate databases.
Assist the Communications Manager in drawing themes, trends and reports from emails, calls and web usage, and periodically assist in the development, running and analysis of online or phone-based user satisfaction surveys.
Participate in relevant meetings including general staff meetings, supervision and campaign team meetings.
Ensure personal adherence to the Planet Ark HR Manual.
Provide general administration and coordination assistance to the Communications Manager, where required, and any other duties as reasonably directed by management.
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
Experience working on events with multiple stakeholders.
Experience in phone and email-based communications and customer service.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with a capacity for conflict resolution and diplomacy.
Strong time management skills, with an ability to manage ongoing concurrent tasks, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, all with a fine attention to detail.
Computer literate in generic computer packages such as Microsoft Office (Excel), email systems and familiarity with the internet and databases, and a willingness to learn new skills in regard to content management.
Ability to work individually or as part of a team and to take directions from others.
A strong alignment with Planet Ark’s mission and values.
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA Experience creating social media content and using analytical tools.

This is a casual role based in Sydney. Working 3 days per week from mid-April to mid-August 2025.
The working hours are 22.5 per week at an hourly rate of $38.46 including casual loading, plus superannuation.
