Whilst atmospheric CO2 increases global temperatures, it also reduces the air quality and endangers our health. This CO2 is absorbed by our oceans, making the water composition more acidic, inhibiting the ability for sea creatures to build shells.
Keeping carbon stored in the ground (particularly in coal and oil deposits) limits these harmful changes to our environment.
