Planet Ark partnership bringing clean energy to schools

Planet Ark's sister clean energy organisation, Planet Ark Power, is about to switch on 454kW of energy generation at three schools across the country, reducing CO2 emissions by an estimated 11,000 tonnes over 25 years. But there are additional reasons which make these installations remarkable.

Schools and childcare facilities are becoming an increasing focus to Planet Ark Power whose primary customer base is typically businesses (a total of 102 installations have been completed so far). As Planet Ark’s sister clean energy organisation, Planet Ark Power is about to switch on 454kW of energy generation at three schools across the country, reducing CO2 emissions by an estimated 11,000 tonnes over 25 years. But there are additional reasons which make these installations remarkable.

Schools are in a privileged position

These installations not only allow schools to harness the energy produced by the sun, but they also give students first-hand experience of how science and technology are creating practical and environmental solutions. Part of Planet Ark Power’s business model is long-term system upgrades and improvements as soon as they become available, providing continuous learning opportunities for students and cost-benefits for schools. This ongoing partnership with Planet Ark Power means students will be front and centre when new technologies are installed.

But, these installations are special for additional reasons. The solar systems at Cranbourne Park Primary School and Narre Warren South P-12 College are part of a program designed to help Victorian Government schools with administration and financial requirements, so they can produce clean energy sooner. This comes in the form of a 10-year solar finance offer that can provide savings from day one, supported by equigroup, the Department of Education and Training’s preferred finance supplier.

Secondly, a solar system installation at Immanuel Lutheran College will be one of the largest school installations in Queensland. Planet Ark Power is in the process of commissioning stage two of the 291kW system. This will mean 6,882 tonnes of CO2 emissions will never make it into our atmosphere.
