The recent meeting of all state and federal Environment Ministers, the Environment and Protection Heritage Council (EPHC), has given a strong commitment to moving forward on national e-waste recycling programs. Development of product stewardship schemes for the collection and recycling of TVs and computers has been supported by the Ministers, with further arrangements to be made by the end of the year.

A report from, Planet Ark’s local recycling information service, revealed that disposal of computers and electronics is of serious concern for ordinary Australians. Four of the top five recycling enquiries last year related to e-waste – that’s 151,088 enquiries! Click here to view the RecyclingNearYou Report.

The outcomes of the EPHC meeting are a significant step in addressing consumers’ e-waste concerns. This step forward for e-waste recycling is broadly supported by business and the community.
