A Night Under The Stars
World Park's Day is coming up on 17th September, and to celebrate, we thought we'd let you know about some of the great initiatives happening in the beautiful parks around Australia.
Australia is lucky enough to have some of the world's most diverse and incredible national parks and reserves, and some really great programs to help you interact with nature.
One fantastic initiative is First Time Camping, a program run by our friends at NSW National Parks and Wildlife who have just made engaging with nature's night time a whole lot easier. It's for Aussies who want to get out and give camping a go under the guidance of a camping expert - so you'll get a tent for 4 people, equipped with camp stretchers, pitched in the incredible setting of a National Park campground... How does that sound? All you have to do is turn up with a great attitude, your sleeping bags and your favourite camping cuisine (ie. what you'd like to eat and drink!). If it sounds like something you'd fancy as the weather gets warmer, get involved and find out more information at Lane Cove River Tourist Park or Bents Basin State Conservation Area. Give your state National Parks organisation a call to check if there's anything similar near you.
Alternatively, for the confident camper wanting to share their skills and meet others with similar interests, another very cool initiative is The Campground Host program.
"NSW National Parks Campground Host program is a perfect opportunity to experience camping in our national parks while providing a valuable service to the public. If you have a passion for the outdoors and volunteering, then becoming a Campground Host might be for you!"
- NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service
