Old Phones, More Chickens
Tis the season to give and right now there’s no better time to give your old mobile phones and accessories to MobileMuster. That’s because until the 31st of January 2012, for every two handsets recycled, MobileMuster will buy a chicken* through the Oxfam Unwrapped program for a family struggling against poverty in Laos. Each chicken will provide a family with enough eggs to eat and sell at the markets, providing food and income for the family.
Plus you will also be helping to protect our environment by keeping harmful materials out of landfill; instead they will be recovered for reuse.
*Up to 2,000 chickens will be purchased.
How To Recycle
There are two simple ways to recycle your mobile phones:
- Drop them off at your nearest collection point. To find a MobileMuster drop-off location, go to RecyclingNearYou.com.au and search for ‘Mobile Phones’ in your local area OR
- Post them in using MobileMuster’s free postage label or by picking up a recycling satchel from your nearest Australia Post office.
For more details on this great initiative visit the MobileMuster website.
MobileMuster is the official recycling program of the mobile phone industry in Australia. It's a not-for-profit program, funded solely by its members who pay a levy on every handset imported into Australia.
