Week 39: I resolve to walk, ride, use public transport and car-pool as much as possible to reduce my transport related greenhouse gas emissions.
Date: 30-Sep-09
Cars are a quick and convenient way to get around, but car travel accounts for 11 percent of the average Australian's greenhouse gas emissions. I can reduce my environmental impact, escape road rage and the peak hour traffic jams by making a commitment to increase my use of public transport as well as walking and bike riding.
This Friday October 2nd is Walk to Work Day, and a great opportunity to stretch my legs and enjoy the morning Spring air! Walking is low impact, requires minimal equipment, can be done at any time of day and can be performed at my own pace. Regular walking can contribute to my better physical, mental & social health. I can find more information at www.walk.com.au
