Green Resolutions

Week 38: I resolve to investigate installing solar panels on my roof to fuel my household energy requirements and reduce my reliance on coal-powered energy.

Date: 22-Sep-09

In a sun drenched country like Australia, it makes sense to make good use of solar power - a renewable energy source.

Unlike many household purchases, eg cars and televisions, solar panels pay for themselves over time, while also minimising my impact on the environment. In some states and territories I can potentially make money in the long-run by selling excess energy back into the national electricity grid.

The Federal Government offers a rebate to households to help fund the installation of a solar system. For more information on the rebate program I can visit www.environment.gov.au/settlements/renewable/pv/index.html or contact a reputable installer, like Solar Shop Australia.

Commitment Statement

I will investigate installing solar panels on my roof to fuel my household energy requirements and reduce my reliance on coal-powered energy.
