Advanced Waste & Resource Recovery Facilities Manual Training Worshops

With support from the NSW EPA the Waste Contractors & Recyclers Association of NSW (WCRA) is pleased to deliver workshops to introduce an Advanced Waste & Resource Recovery Facilities Manual to increase and improve the quantity and quality of materials being recovered, while helping to ensure that sites and operators comply with environmental and occupational health and safety requirements.

Upcoming workshops are scheduled for: Thursday 17 November 2016 at Summerhill Waste Management Facility - Newcastle Thursday 24 November 2016 at Western Sydney - Venue TBC

Learning outcomes

  • An awareness and understanding of current waste and resource recovery policies, practices and relevant environmental legislation; and
  • Improved knowledge to assist workers with compliance combined with the objective of creating better and more sustainable environmental outcomes.

Who should attend?

Waste Management & Recycling Industry personnel who are responsible for operations, supervision, compliance, resource recovery, waste education, depot staff, etc. from waste management and resource recovery facilities across NSW.

The workshop content will cover issues such as

Waste laws and regulations

Waste avoidance and resource recovery legislation

NSW waste & environment levy

Environmental management

Resource Recovery

Orders & Exemptions

Stockpiling protocol & best practice

Protocol for the management of asbestos in C&D recycling

Pollution Incident Response Management Plans

Resources available to promote better resource recovery outcomes

Workshop material

Each participant will be provided with an Advanced Waste and Resource Recovery Facility Workers Manual for use in the workplace which contains guidance and explanations on the above topics. Participants will be lead through the process of completing an application for a licence to carry on a premises-based activity.

Where possible each workshop will include a site tour and/or a presentation on resource recovery, recycling, waste management, etc.
