At least 22 people died and one person was severely burned when a spreading grassland fire swept through a mountainous Tibetan region in southwest China, state news agency Xinhua reported on Sunday.
Soldiers and residents who were trying to put out the blaze were trapped when the fire spread because of gusts, Xinhua said, citing local government officials.
The blaze broke out in Daofu County in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garze in Sichuan Province on Sunday noon.
