Road traffic accounts for what percentage of Australia's greenhouse gas emissions?
Answer C) 16%
Cars produce nearly a fifth of household greenhouse gas emissions, so one of the best things we can do for the planet is to drive less. Even if it's hard to manage without a car entirely, we can still try to drive a bit less, walk a bit more, and take public transport when it's possible.
Why not take part in Walk to Work Day this year by simply walking all or even part of the way to work? On Friday 2 October, use public transport and get off the bus, train, tram or ferry a few stops earlier and walk the rest of the way. You could also take a half-hour walk at lunchtime and where possible, walk up stairs. If you have to drive, leave the car at least a kilometre or two from your destination and walk the remaining distance.
