Planet Ark’s National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day programs have engaged more than 2.5 million volunteers to plant 16 million native trees nationally since its inception in 1996. This could not have been achieved without the support of so many, including our major sponsor Toyota.

Every year, Toyota mobilises its dealer network to provide on the ground support to Tree Day sites across the country, as well high profile brand ambassadors to help spread the important messages behind National Tree Day. Toyota's involvement in National Tree Day initiatives reflects the company's positive support of both the environment and local communities.

“Toyota has sponsored National Tree Day since 2000 because we genuinely care about the environment and want to help reduce the impact of greenhouse gas emissions, " said Toyota Senior Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, David Buttner.

Toyota has demonstrated its genuine global commitment to sustainability, minimising its impact on our environment through the creation of the Toyota Prius, the world's first mass-produced hybrid vehicle. Following the Prius, the Hybrid Camry became the first locally built hybrid vehicle when it rolled off the production line in Altona, Victoria, in February 2010.
