Thanks to the generous support of Aware over $35, 000 has been raised for projects helping to protect the Orangutans in South-East Asia from deforestation due to palm oil plantations. What a great result! But we couldn’t have done it without the help of everyone who helped support us by purchasing Aware during this period – so thank you.

The money raised has been donated to the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation Australia (BOS) and the Australian Orangutan Project (AOP) to support their work on the ground in both Borneo and Sumatra.

About the Projects

Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation

The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS) focuses on three key areas in their work – orangutan adoptions, orphanages and land rehabilitation. BOS will use the funds to continue their great work across all of these important areas.

Louise Grossfeldt from the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation said “The campaign has been a huge success and we are glad to announce that we received a substantial donation from Aware and Planet Ark that will be used towards the ongoing work BOS Foundation is doing in Indonesia in helping to save the Bornean Orangutan.”

Australian Orangutan Project

The Australian Orangutan Project (AOP) supports a number of different projects in Borneo and Sumatra, including a team of wildlife wardens. AOP will be dedicating these funds to support this community group who defend, care for and manage the protected forest and inhabitants of the Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary.

Troy Kennah from the Australian Orangutan Project said “AOP has proudly worked alongside Planet Ark and Aware in the recent promotion and awareness surrounding the first palm oil free laundry detergent available in major Australian supermarkets. Aware has created a product that gives consumers a choice. A choice that all Australians should be allowed to make."

Once again a big thank you to everyone who supported this campaign.  For more information of the impact of palm oil and how you can help click here.
