Farmer Oinks For The Environment

The Cabañas del Sol farm, outside Buenos Aires, is home to some 10,000 pigs.
For ten years it has been powered on environmentally friendly bio gas made from pig feces.
The pig waste is converted into a compost of methane (CH4)Carbon Dioxide (CO2) through a process of anaerobic fermentation.
Every day, 20,000 kg/lt pass through the bio digestors, and 600 cubic meters of bio gas are created.
Leaving nothing to waste, the farm also uses the liquid the Biogasgenerators discharge for irrigation and fertilization purposes.
DIRECTOR OF ARGENTINAS DEL SOL CABANAS FARM, HUGO GARCIA:
"If we don't think about clean and renewable energy that doesn't contaminate the environment, we are going to be left very quickly in a disadvantageous situation where we won't be able to continue making food for humanity."
